From May 19 to 23, 2025, the Second Caspian International Hydrographic Conference on navigational and hydrographic support for shipping in the Caspian Sea was held in Makhachkala. The conference was organized by the Navigation and Oceanography Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Representatives from hydrographic services of Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan participated in the Conference.

At the invitation of the Head of the Department of Navigation and Oceanography, Professor A.G. Kostianoy, Chief Researcher at Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the RAS and Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, participated in the conference. He presented a report entitled "Caspian Sea Level Changes," which presented current sea level forecasts and the results of his Caspian Sea research conducted as part of several national and international research projects.

For his active participation in holding this conference, A.G. Kostianoy received a letter of thanks from the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral A.A. Moiseyev.
