At a general meeting of members of the Russian Academy of Sciences on June 23, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev, in his report "On the implementation of the state scientific and technical policy in the Russian Federation and on the most important scientific achievements obtained by Russian scientists in 2019," named 2 achievements of Shirshov Institute of Oceanology as one of the most fundamental scientific results: “Reconstruction of the atmospheric circulation in the North Atlantic for the last 40 years” (project manager - S. Gulev) and “Control of underwater nuclear and radiation hazardous objects and ecosystem parameters” (project manager - N. Rimsky-Korsakov).
