On February 14, 2022, the opening of the three-day scientific school "Floating University 2022" took place at 6 sites in 5 cities of Russia: Moscow, Astrakhan, Kaliningrad, Vladivostok, Sevastopol. More than 1,000 applications from over 140 organizations have been submitted to the school this year.

On the first day of the scientific school, the heads of the laboratories of the Institute of Oceanology presented current research and invited students to cooperate.
For three days, young scientists conduct master classes on processing oceanographic, biological data and data from satellite color scanners. A particularly popular area has become machine learning in the geosciences. On the third day of the school, a presentation of the upcoming expeditionary research and an exhibition of instruments and underwater equipment will take place.
For the duration of the school, the Center for Oceanography and Marine Biology Moskvarium provided all participants with the opportunity to visit for free with a guided tour or on their own.
The scientific and educational program "Floating University of IO RAS" helps to immerse in science and fully integrate into the research environment. #PUIORAN students go through a scientific school, competitive selection, receive data on sea and coastal expeditions, report scientific results at Russian and international conferences.
The Floating University of IO RAS has been opening its doors to interested students since 2018. In 2022, scientific schools under the Floating University program supported 20 organizations, uniting at 6 sites. All the efforts of the organizers are aimed at helping students decide on the choice of profession and scientific direction.
