From October 23 to October 28, 2023, Moscow will host the XII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Marine Research and Education. MARESEDU-2023" (www.maresedu.com).
The conference is held annually with the aim of information exchange and coordination of the efforts of the scientific and university communities in organizing interdisciplinary marine research and integrating practical work with education in maritime science.
The conference participants will discuss a wide range of issues on the state and prospects for the development of integrated studies of the World Ocean, on topical issues of rational nature management and conservation of biodiversity in water spaces, the development of resources of the continental shelf and the bottom of the World Ocean, on the achievements of science in the field of marine geological exploration and environmental monitoring, on modern methodological approaches to the study of vast water areas by various methods. Special attention in the program will be paid to the organization and conduct of complex expeditionary research with the participation of students, the problems of teaching marine disciplines, as well as the organization of field practices for students.
The study and development of the World Ocean attract wide public attention. For the second year in a row, the conference will be held as an official event of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
More than 600 listeners take part in the event every year, the program includes more than 300 oral and poster presentations on the main topics: oceanology, earth hydrology, marine biology, marine geology, hydrographic and geophysical studies in water areas, seascapes, marine mammals, environmental management and environmental protection, underwater heritage and diving techniques. Among the conference participants are employees and students of research institutes and leading universities of the country, as well as research centers of large industrial enterprises.
The event is organized by the Center for Marine Research of Lomonosov Moscow State University and the UNESCO-MSU Educational and Scientific Center for Marine Geology and Geophysics, with the support of the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the geological, geographical and biological faculties of Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Pertsov White Sea Biological Station, as well as the Council on marine mammals. The partner of MARESEDU is the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, represented by the Department for Coordinating the Activities of Institutions in the Field of Engineering and Geosciences, the Navy, Ranges and Expeditions.
