In the framework of the 2018 conference, it is proposed to discuss the current state and prospects for the development of integrated studies of the World Ocean, offshore seas and the largest lakes, current problems of environmental management and the preservation of biological and geological diversity in water spaces, development of resources of the continental shelf, advances in marine geology, modern approaches to the study of vast areas by remote sensing, problems of sustainable development of ecosystems of the sea and coastal zone, organization and implementation of research expeditions, the problem of teaching the "sea subjects", as well as the organization of field practice of students.

During the days of the conference, an exhibition of photographs from sea field expeditions will be held. A special competition of student research papers is planned.

One of the main purpose of the conference is the informational exchange and coordination of the efforts of the scientific and university communities in the organization of interdisciplinary marine research and the integration of practical work with education in marine science.

A special event will be an international jubilee conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of N.A. Pertsov BBS - "Marine biology, geology and oceanology – interdisciplinary research in marine stations ".
