Last weekend, the district finals of the Leaders of Russia competition ended. One of the finalists, head of the Ocean Optics Laboratory Dmitry Glukhovets, took part in the three-day event.

Leading researcher at the Laboratory of Hydrological Processes of the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Dmitry Ilyich Frey, was awarded the Moscow Government Young Scientist Prize for 2023 in the Earth Sciences category for his work "Study of the deep circulation of the World Ocean from Antarctica to the Arctic seas of Russia and its influence on the Earth’s climate".

This year, employees of Zenkovich Laboratory of the Sea Shelf and Coasts completed instrumental monitoring of the accumulative relief of the coastal zone in the Baltic Spit section, where 11 series of measurements have been carried out since 2019.

Mikhail Krinitsky, senior researcher of the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and head of the Laboratory of Machine Learning in Geosciences at MIPT, at the Congress of Young Scientists 2023, as part of a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, discussed global warming and the perception of artificial intelligence methods both among Russian scientists and in international arena.

An employee of the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of RAS, together with colleagues from Latvia and Luxembourg, obtained interesting results when revising inclusions in Baltic amber.
