On March 20, 2021, the chief researcher of the Laboratory of Ocean Chemistry, DSc (Geological and Mineralogical Sciences), Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, the largest specialist in the field of ocean chemistry, Professor Yevgeny Alexandrovich Romankevich turned 90!

March 15, 2021 marks the 75th anniversary of the birth of Evgeny Georgievich Morozov - DSc (Physical and Mathematical Sciences), Head of the Laboratory of Hydrological Processes of the Institute of Oceanology of the RAS, a prominent scientist in the field of studying the temporal and spatial variability of hydrological processes and internal waves.

President Vladimir Putin awarded Anatoly Rodionov, director of the St. Petersburg branch of the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of RAS.

On February 11, 2021, on the anniversary of the death of Academician Aleksandr Petrovich Lisitsyn, a memorial plaque was opened at the Institute of Oceanology near his office by the staff of the Laboratory of Physical and Geological Research, which now bears the name of the academician.

Senior Researcher of Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Osadchiev became a laureate of the prize in the category "Earth Sciences" for a series of works devoted to the study of the distribution and transformation of river flow in the coastal and shelf zones of the Russian seas.

Our Institute is the oldest (decree of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences of 01/31/1946) and the largest Russian research center in the field of oceanology. The IO RAS is the only institute in Russia that conducts research in all areas of marine sciences, including physics, climatology, chemistry, biology and ocean geology.
